What it shows
The food CPI tracks prices of foodstuffs in the consumer basket. It shows how much grocery prices contribute to overall inflation and often leads turning points in the headline CPI.
Why it matters
Food CPI is a reference series for analysis of the Russian economy, comparisons over time, and interpretation alongside related indicators on Forecast Economy.

How often it updates
The series updates when the official publisher releases new figures (monthly). The date of the latest point is shown on the chart and in the table.
Methodology
Calculated by Rosstat as the price index for food items relative to the previous month (100 means no change). The same observation network and basket weights apply as for the headline CPI, restricted to the food segment. Chart modes on the card (trailing 12-month inflation, month-on-month, weekly, index) reuse this series.
